During my two years engagement at Abbott Pharmaceuticals, I successfully led both onsite and offshore teams on a variety of engagements, consistently delivering positive results for the client.

Individual contributions included:

• Requirements analysis, with a focus on understanding projected business needs.

• Project management of app development, including defining and implementing usability, UI design standards, and dynamic data presentation.
• Information architecture, experience design and wireframe development, based on Abbott’s established style guides and design standards.

Aspire, a Sales Compliance Tool

Aspire, a Sales Assessment System allows the Field Personnel to enter and submit assessments issued to them by the Office of Ethics and Compliance. This system works on both connected and disconnected modes.

The portal, a first of its kind at Cognizant, was designed in Silverlight and Windows Communication Foundation, WCF to provide a web experience that was rich and engaging. Silverlight technology enabled for the rich UI and for the excellent visualizations of data intensive metrics.

Aspire was well received by Abbott and was nominated for the President’s Award.

iComply, a Corporate Healthcare Portal

The Office of Ethics and Compliance (OEC) wanted to extend the functionality of their Global Event Planning Tool.

Business objectives included:

• The existing tool was restrictive and did not display the output in an efficient or user friendly manner
• To reduce the time required to analyze compliance information
• To consider the many needs of the varied customers new and regular, and reduce the demands on the compliance office for routine information
• Limitations to the system administrator capabilities
• A user friendly, intuitive design customized for both new and power users, while maintaining compliance with Abbot standards

Solution Highlights:

• Creative approaches and design concepts developed in consultation with client on User Experience design objectives
• UI architecture aims to provide logical and clear organization of site’s various tools and components, allowing Abbott personnel as well as specified business partners around the world to quickly and efficiently access compliance requirements found in OEC policies
• A functional, inherently interactive portal, with easy access to local pages, compliance tools within the site
• Quick links to features within the site for a frequent user allowing for efficiency and ease of use
• Featured product/tools provides direct click leading to product/tool interest for new users

Volwiler Society

Volwiler Society, a collaboration portal was introduced for scientific minds to share knowledge for promoting Scientific Society’s mission, goals, purpose & events. 

The Volwiler portal was provisioned with features for members to be able to track events, organize and attend online seminars and regularly update news & blogs.

Volwiler Collaboration portal was awarded People’s Choice Award at Abbott IT Around the World Conference.

Volwiler Society, a collaboration portal for scientific minds to share knowledge for promoting Scientific Society’s mission, goals, purpose & events. The portal was provisioned with features for members to be able to track events, organize and attend online seminars and regularly update news & blogs.

The portal developed in SharePoint helped improve the R&D productivity by providing access to information within the organization and also enabling collaboration across the divisions.

Technology used: Microsoft SharePoint Server 2007LDAP.NET 3.5, SharePoint Object Model, JQuery.

Lot Restriction Management System

Lot Restriction Management System (LRMS) is a quality system that supports, controls (through reviews and approvals), and provides reports, or tracks information or data involved in the creation or release of client products to countries. 

This solution provided a centralized system for Abbott to enhance the efficiency of the planning, manufacturing, logistics and release process and to aid in decision- making throughout the drug manufacturing business processes, starting from Bulk Drug Substance (BDS) through Finished Drug Product (FDP) phases.

ENVision

The ENVision system, a custom-built system intended to provide an environmental waste and emissions data entry and reporting capability for client environmental personnel at Abbott.

Project Governance Portal

The Project Governance portal is a customer insights application for the senior executives aimed at providing dashboard information of Cognizant managed project status at Abbott.

Abbott Diagnostics, In vitro diagnostics 

Abbott Diagnostics, an in vitro diagnostics business division of Abbott Pharmaceuticals desired to improve its current portal customer experience so as to provide improved customer interaction, leading edge marketing mechanisms, increase its revenue and to move the portal to the next level of customer / business maturity.

Individual contributions included

• Business strategy, which involved an understanding of the projected business needs
• Competitive benchmarking of ADD with its peers in the industry on key areas: 1) Distinguishing factors as well as gaps in the portal UX, its feature offerings, product and services benchmarked against the entire competitive set. 2) Business objective of the portal. 3) The intended target user group and the tasks they can perform
• UX review: Current state analysis benchmarked on best practices
• Future state recommendations - scope for improvement both by design and function of the portal
• Collaborated with Web analytics team to identify user behavior patterns, what is working for the portal and what are the gaps, and the SEO strategies to improve overall reach and to aid conversion
